Geffrey Davis grew up in Tacoma, Washington, and earned his MFA and PhD from Penn State University. His first book of poems, Revising the Storm(2014), won the BOA Editions A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. His other honors include the Anne Halley Poetry Prize, the Dogwood First Prize in Poetry, the Wabash Prize for Poetry, the Leonard Steinberg Memorial/Academy of American Poets Prize, nomination for the Pushcart Prize, and fellowships from the Cave Canem Foundation and Penn State’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities. Davis’ poems appear widely in such places as the Academy of American Poets, Crazyhorse, Green Mountains Review, the Greensboro Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, the Los Angeles Review, the Massachusetts Review, Mid-American Review, Mississippi Review, Nimrod International Journal, Sycamore Review, and upstreet, among others. Davis teaches at the University of Arkansas and with The Rainier Writing Workshop low-residency MFA program.
