David Chariandy grew up in Toronto and lives and teaches in Vancouver. He is the author of I’ve
Been Meaning to Tell You: A Letter to My Daughter, and the novels Soucouyant, which received
nominations from 11 literary awards juries, and Brother, nominated for 12 awards and winner of
the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize, and the Toronto Book
Award. In 2019, he won Yale’s Windham-Campbell Prize in fiction for his body of work.
