Chinelo Okparanta, born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is the author of Happiness, Like Water as well as Under the Udala Trees. Her honors include an O. Henry Prize, two Lambda Awards, and finalist selections for the Etisalat Prize for Literature, the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, the Caine Prize, and the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. Her stories have appeared in Granta, The New Yorker, and Tin House, among other publications.
