Elnathan John is a Nigerian lawyer who quit his job in 2012 to write full-time. Born on a Tuesday won a Betty Trask Prize, was a finalist for the Nigeria Prize for Literature, was longlisted for the Etisalat Prize for Literature, and was a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice. He has been shortlisted twice for the Caine Prize for African Writing and was named a Civitella Ranieri Fellow. His work has been published in Per Contra, Financial Times, Medium, Chimurenga’s Chronic, Hazlitt, and the Evergreen Review, and he writes a satiric column about politics and life for a Nigerian weekly newspaper.
