Born in Washington, D.C., Rachel Eliza Griffiths is a poet, photographer, and novelist. Her hybrid collection of poetry and photography, Seeing the Body (W.W. Norton), was selected as the winner of the 2021 Paterson Poetry Prize and nominated for a 2021 NAACP Image Award. Griffiths’ visual and literary work has appeared widely, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The New York Review of Books, The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, Best American Poetry (2020 and 2021), Mosaic Magazine, Guernica, The L Word: Generation Q, BOMB Magazine, and many others. She is a recipient of fellowships including Cave Canem Foundation, Kimbilio, Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, and Yaddo. Her debut novel, Promise, is forthcoming from Random House. She lives in New York City.
