Richard Wright

(1908-1960)​

Novelist, journalist, short story writer, political essayist, Richard Wright was a witness to and participant in most of the major political and philosophical movements of the twentieth century from Communism to Pan Africanism. His most famous novel, Native Son, was an international best seller, which brought Wright fame and considerable fortune. Along with his other works, which include Black Boy, Uncle Tom’s Children, and The Outsider, Native Son earned Wright an important place in the literary canon of this country.
