Writer Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts has been called a brilliant new voice. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Nation, The Boston Globe and Transition, and she’s received awards from the Rona Jaffe Foundation, Lannan Foundation and New York Foundation for the Arts. The Harvard grad hails from Texas and was a Fulbright Scholar in the United Kingdom. Rhodes-Pitts’ first book, Harlem Is Nowhere: A Journey to the Mecca of Black America, is described as an “analytical take on one of America’s most thriving cultural communities.”
