The Hurston/Wright Foundation is accepting submissions for the 2021 Legacy Awards, the 2021 College Awards and the 2021 Crossover Award
2021 Hurston/Wright Legacy Awards
The Hurston/Wright Legacy Award honors the best in Black literature in the United States and around the globe. Introduced in 2001, the Legacy Award was the first national award presented to Black writers by a national organization of Black writers. Legacy Award honorees are selected in a juried competition and celebrated at a ceremony each October. The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 18th.

2021 College Awards
First-place winners receive a $1,000 cash prize, free tuition to a Hurston/Wright writing workshop, and a complimentary seat at the Legacy Awards Ceremony. The deadline for submissions is January 29, 2021.

2021 Crossover Award
The Hurston/Wright Crossover Award, sponsored by ESPN’s The Undefeated, honors probing, provocative, and original new voices in literary nonfiction. The First-place winner will receive a $2,000 cash prize, free tuition to a Hurston/Wright writing workshop, and a complimentary seat at the Legacy Awards Ceremony. The deadline for submissions is January 29, 2021.
